What is PomoTasks and how does it help me?

add
PomoTasks is a Pomodoro tool combined with Project/Task management. It helps you work with a rhythm (25-minute Focus – 5-minute Break), reduce distractions, and complete work more consistently every day. You can create projects, add tasks with Pomodoro estimates/priority/notes, and conveniently import/export using Markdown to avoid manual entry or for data backup.

What is Pomodoro? How should I use the 25/5 rhythm?

add
Pomodoro is a way of working in "rhythms": focus for a short period, then take a short break to let your brain recover. The most popular rhythm is 25 minutes Focus / 5 minutes Break. How to use 25/5 effectively: - Choose a single task to work on (don't multi-task). - Press Start Focus and work only on that task for 25 minutes. - After 25 minutes, take a real 5-minute break: stand up, hydrate, relax your eyes. - Repeat 3–4 times, then take a longer break (10–15 mins) if needed. The key is: consistency and rhythm, not grinding all-out.

I have successfully downloaded but PomoTasks does not appear?

add
How to enable PomoTasks (for beginners): Look at the top right corner of Chrome. Click the Extensions icon (puzzle piece shape). Find PomoTasks in the list. Click the Pin icon to always show PomoTasks on the toolbar. Then you will see the PomoTasks icon appear and can click to use it immediately.

How does Accumulated work?

add
Accumulated is the total time you have 'truly focused' on each task, and it only starts counting when you run the timer for that specific task. For example: You select Task A and start a 25-minute Focus session. You work until the timer has 10 minutes left and then switch to another task → Task A is credited with 15 minutes Accumulated. Then you switch to Task B, run the timer, and complete 10 minutes → Task B is credited with 10 minutes Accumulated. In short: Accumulated is calculated per task, based on the timer duration that ran while the task was selected.

Who is PomoTasks for?

add
PomoTasks is suitable for you if you want to work neatly and clearly, especially: - Developers / Designers / Creators: to get into the "flow". - Office workers: to break down tasks and avoid feeling overwhelmed. - Students / Self-learners: to maintain consistency. - Freelancers / Multi-project workers: to track progress across projects. If you often lose time due to distractions, PomoTasks will help.

How do I start focusing for 25 minutes and breaking for 5 minutes?

add
Press Start Focus to begin a 25-minute focus session. When done, PomoTasks opens a notification tab. Then, press Start Break for a 5-minute break. Another tab reminds you to return to work once the break is over.

How does PomoTasks notify me?

add
When the session is up, PomoTasks automatically opens a new tab and plays a sound. This ensures you don't miss the transition and can stay on rhythm.

Can I change the Focus/Break duration?

add
Yes. You can customize the Focus and Break duration according to your needs in the Settings section of PomoTasks.

How do I create Projects and Tasks?

add
Go to the Projects section, select Create new project, enter a name and Create. Inside, select Create task and fill in: name, Estimate Pomodoro, Priority, and Note. You can edit or delete them at any time.

What are Estimate Pomodoro, Priority, and Note for?

add
Estimate Pomodoro: Estimate sessions needed for a task to help with daily planning. Priority: Rank tasks so you focus on what's important. Note: Add quick info (links, ideas, checklists) so you can start working immediately.

Can I edit/delete tasks or projects?

add
Yes. Except for the default Project, you can edit or delete both tasks and projects in PomoTasks whenever your plans change.

What structure does Markdown Import need?

add
PomoTasks imports in the form of Project → Task list. 1. Project: Each project starts with a level 1 heading: # Project Name 2. Task: Each task is a checklist bullet: Not done: - [ ] ... Done: - [x] ... Inside the task content, you need: - Task Name - Progress/Estimate Pomodoro in the format (done/estimate), e.g., (0/2), (1/4) - Priority in square brackets, e.g., [!], [!!], [!!!] 3. Note (optional): If a task has a note, write it on the line below starting with > (can be indented): > Note content... Example of correct formatting: # defaultProjectName - [ ] Finish slide (0/2) [!!] # Personal Growth Updated - [ ] Finish Math Homework (0/4) [!!!] > Exercises 1 to 10 - Chapter 4 - [ ] Read "Atomic Habits" (0/2) [!!!] - [x] Clean my workspace (0/2) [!] As long as you follow these 4 rules (Project with #, Task with - [ ]/- [x], Pomodoro (0/2), Priority [!!]), PomoTasks will create the data without manual entry on the UI.
